Personal Housekeeping

Start with picking up the things on the floor.   You can’t get moving when you can’t see where you’re standing.  Throw away the old habits that don’t serve you anymore.  Refile the good ideas that you might want to look at again.

Now you have a little space to see what’s what.

Empty the dishwasher.  Make room for the new stuff by clearing out the old stuff.  Let go of past failures, of promises not kept.  Let go of the grudges.  File away anything that you’ve resolved.  You need to make room for the next round (and you can’t just keep piling them up on the countertop, can you?)

Organize your sock drawer.  Get things in order.  Set a new routine.  Get back to working out – to taking care of yourself.  Knock out those annoying tasks that should have been done last month.

Use a little elbow grease on the tough spots.  You don’t need to get them all – but pick a few.  The tough ones sometimes need a little more work, but once you’ve cleared them out, you’ll never have to look at their unsightly mess again.

Now, doesn’t that feel better?  Things weren’t so bad after all.  Now that you can see what you have to work with you can get down to business.

A little personal housekeeping can go a long way to getting you ready for your next move/idea/houseguest.

Once you get started, it’s a lot easier than you think.
